Jesus Christ Republicans Need to Stop Talking About Joe Biden
This is Embarrassing
Ever since convicted felon Donald Trump swore into office, I’ve heard with increasingly regularity this familiar whine from Republican political actors. With the best 3rd-grade level reasoning, those on the Right deflect each and every question about their governing with snotty retorts about how Joe Biden was actually the one doing it. Holy shit.
Most recently, a group of talking heads on the radio were discussing FBI director nominee Kash Patel‘s apparent list of enemies. When asked if it makes sense to have an FBI director that maintains a list of enemies to after, the Republican talking head retorted with something to the effect of “Joseph Biden weaponized the FBI and for four years went after his enemies. I’m shocked you haven’t asked that question in the last four years”.
Regardless of your stance on whether or not the previous administration weaponized the Justice Department, the fact remains that JOE BIDEN ISN’T THE PRESIDENT ANYMORE.
Wahhh Big Bad Joe Biden Did It First!!
Good thing you voted out those crooked Democrats! Now, can we please focus on talking about what the current administration is doing and whether that makes sense, or are we going continue these middle school deflection tactics?
The Broken Record Needs to Stop
I get it. Some Republicans want to relitigate every perceived slight, every possible scandal, every minute detail from the Biden era—probably because it’s easier than explaining the current administration’s ineptitude in handling actual governance. Instead of spelling out coherent policies to address inflation, infrastructure, or even the next big crisis, they’d rather point at a now-former leader and say, “He did it first, so it’s fine that we do it too!” It’s the political equivalent of “Mommy, Timmy started it!”. Except it’s a hundred times more ridiculous because we’re supposedly talking about grown adults running a country.
Here’s a radical idea: maybe try articulating your own ideas without always blaming Biden for anything and everything. The man’s not in the White House anymore. You all won the election, you have the political power, act like it. If your new FBI director is the type to keep an “enemies list” at the ready, then at least have the guts to defend that stance on its own merits.
We’re Supposed to Be Better Than This, Right?
All that talk about morality and restoring the country from the “horrible left-wing agenda” was supposed to mean something. Or was it just hot air to get votes and donations? Because right now, every time Republicans point at Biden—again, a former president—it just reads like an insecure child refusing to do their homework because somebody else, at some point, might have gotten away with skipping class. Instead of forging a clear path forward, they’re busy pointing fingers at ghosts of administrations past.
Time to Step Up or Shut Up
If this administration has a brilliant plan for the economy, the justice system, border security—anything—then let’s hear it. Let’s discuss that. But if the best you can do is keep squealing, “Biden did it first!” to justify every shady move, then the entire party risks becoming a parody of itself. You don’t just get to fall back on “But the other guys did it!” every time you’re questioned about your policies.
Look, politics is messy, and no side is ever squeaky clean. But at some point, a functioning government requires accountability and forward motion. You either keep dragging us into this adolescent tit-for-tat that does exactly nothing to solve real issues, or you accept the responsibilities that come with actual leadership.
Final Thoughts
We’ve hit the point where anything that happens under the current administration—no matter how indefensible—is brushed off with the reflexive mention of Joe Biden’s name. This is getting old. Stop whining about the people you supposedly vanquished at the polls and start governing.
